1. Who we are
Englio is operated by VELYTRA SOLUTIONS, a Limited Liability Partnership in India (LLPIN ACZ-9875), operator of Englio, with its registered office at [registered office address to be confirmed]. For the personal data described here, VELYTRA SOLUTIONS (operating Englio, "we", "us") is the Data Fiduciary under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the DPDP Act). You can reach us about anything in this policy at support@englio.in.
2. What we collect
- Account and sign-in
- Your mobile number, which we verify with a one-time password (OTP) sent by SMS. Optionally your name and email address. For security we record sign-in sessions with the device type, browser, IP address and time.
- Profile and onboarding answers
- What you tell us when you set up your account or speak with the AI onboarding tutor: who you are (for example student or working professional), what you want to improve, your goals, current level, preferred languages and voice, city, daily practice time and reminder preferences.
- Practice sessions — voice audio and transcripts
- Your spoken-English lessons, tutor conversations and interview practice are live voice conversations. Your voice is streamed to our speech providers and converted to text in real time. We store the text transcript of each turn and the settings you chose, and we process that transcript (and, where a session is recorded, the audio) through our AI providers to generate your scores, feedback and report. Any audio recording is kept only as long as needed to produce and review your feedback.
- Feedback and progress
- The scores, written feedback and reports generated from your sessions, and your progress over time.
- Purchases
- Orders, the plan or pack you bought, amounts, the payment method type and transaction references returned by the payment gateway, invoice details, refund requests and your minutes balance. Card, UPI and bank details are entered on the gateway’s checkout and handled by the gateway; we do not receive or store them.
- Usage and support
- Which courses, lessons and practice sessions you start and finish, voice minutes used, streaks and achievements, ratings you give, consents you grant, and messages you send to support.
3. Why we use it, and on what basis
We process personal data on the basis of the consent you give when you create an account and accept this policy, and for the legitimate uses the DPDP Act allows, such as complying with law (for example keeping tax invoices) and acting on a purchase you asked for. We use your data only to:
- create and secure your account, verify your phone number and prevent misuse;
- run your lessons, tutor conversations and interview practice in the language you choose, and generate scores, feedback and reports from your transcripts and audio;
- personalise practice — the topics, conversations, courses and reminders we suggest;
- process payments, issue invoices, handle refunds and keep your minutes balance accurate;
- answer support requests and send service messages about your account, purchases and sessions;
- measure and improve the quality, reliability and cost of the service; and
- meet our legal obligations and enforce our terms.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising. You can withdraw consent at any time by writing to us or by deleting your account; withdrawal does not affect processing already done, and some features will stop working without the data they need.
4. Who processes data for us
We use the following categories of service provider (Data Processors) to run Englio. Each receives only the data it needs for its task and processes it on our instructions.
- Hosting and storage
- Our servers, database and stored files (such as invoice and report PDFs) run on a cloud hosting provider, with our primary database in India.
- Real-time voice transport
- Carries the live audio between your device and the AI tutor during a voice session.
- Speech-to-text and text-to-speech providers
- Convert your speech to text and generate the tutor’s spoken voice, depending on the language of the session. Your session audio and transcript pass through these providers to make the live conversation work.
- AI language models
- Generate the tutor’s replies and evaluate your transcript (and, where applicable, your audio) to produce your feedback and report. We send the conversation content and the context needed for the session, not your phone number.
- SMS / OTP delivery
- Deliver your sign-in OTP to your mobile number.
- Payment gateway
- Processes payments and refunds. The gateway collects your payment details directly under its own terms and privacy policy.
- Product analytics
- Measures how the website is used — pages visited, steps completed and purchases made — so we can see where learners get stuck and improve the service. It receives an anonymous account ID, never your name, phone number, email address or what you say in a session. Advertising features are switched off.
We may also disclose personal data where the law requires it, for example to comply with a lawful order of a court or government authority.
5. Processing outside India
Our primary database is in India. Some processors above, such as the AI model and speech providers, may process data on servers outside India. Where this happens we transfer only what the task needs, and we do not transfer personal data to any country the Government of India restricts under section 16 of the DPDP Act.
6. How long we keep it
- Account, profile, session transcripts and reports: for as long as your account is active, so you can review your progress, and up to 30 days after you ask us to delete it.
- Session audio: kept only as long as needed to generate and let you review your feedback, then deleted; most sessions are not stored as audio once the transcript and feedback are produced.
- One-time passwords: only for the few minutes they are valid, plus a short record of the attempt for abuse prevention.
- Orders, payments and invoices: for as long as tax and accounting laws require, even after you delete your account.
- Support messages: for as long as needed to resolve your request and keep a record of it.
- Data exports you download: deleted from our servers 7 days after they are ready.
You can delete your account from Settings → Danger zone, or by writing to us. Your account is deactivated and signed out on every device straight away. If you change your mind, sign in within 30 days and choose Cancel deletion in Settings. After 30 days we permanently erase your name, phone number, email address, profile and onboarding answers, sign-in identities and sessions, the transcripts and any stored audio of your lessons, tutor conversations and interview practice, the written feedback in your reports and any stored report files, and your support messages and reviews. We keep scores, usage statistics and the record of consents you gave, linked only to an anonymous ID that no longer identifies you. Orders, payments and invoices are kept for as long as tax and accounting laws require; an invoice keeps the billing details printed on it when it was issued. Copies in our encrypted database backups are overwritten within 7 days.
8. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act you have the right to:
- Access
- Get a summary of the personal data we hold about you and the processing we do, and know which processors we share it with. You can download a copy from Settings → Privacy & data: we prepare a ZIP file of your data, usually within a few minutes, and the download link stays available for 7 days.
- Correction and completion
- Fix inaccurate or incomplete data. You can edit most profile details yourself in Settings.
- Erasure
- Ask us to delete your personal data, unless we must keep it to comply with law.
- Withdraw consent
- Stop processing based on your consent, as easily as you gave it.
- Nominate
- Nominate another person to exercise these rights for you in the event of your death or incapacity.
- Grievance redressal
- Complain to us about how we handle your data, and escalate to the Data Protection Board of India if you are not satisfied with our response.
To use any of these rights, write to support@englio.in with "Privacy" in the subject line from the email or phone number linked to your account. We may ask you to verify your identity before acting on a request.
9. Grievance Officer
- Operated by
- VELYTRA SOLUTIONS (LLPIN ACZ-9875)
- support@englio.in (subject line "Grievance")
- Support hours
- Monday–Saturday, 10:00–18:00 IST
- Registered office
- [registered office address to be confirmed]
We acknowledge every grievance promptly and resolve it within the period prescribed under the DPDP Act and the rules made under it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
10. Children
Some Englio practice is used by students under 18. Under the DPDP Act, a person under 18 may use Englio only with the verifiable consent of a parent or lawful guardian, who should create or supervise the account. We do not track children’s behaviour or target advertising at them. If you believe a child is using Englio without a parent’s consent, write to us and we will act on it.
11. Security
We protect your data with encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls that limit staff access to what their role needs, audit logs of administrative actions, encrypted storage of service credentials and regular review of our systems. No online service can be perfectly secure. If a personal data breach occurs, we will inform affected users and the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal data, we will update this page and its date. For material changes — for example a new purpose or a new category of processor — we will tell you in the app before the change applies, and ask for fresh consent where the law requires it.
